Saeed Behnam (born 1975) is an Iranian theater director, performer, art researcher, and instructor. He earned a BA in Theater Acting from Soore University of Tehran and studied Acting Method/Stanislavski Technique under Mahin Oskouei. Saeed began his career as an actor in Sirous Shamlou's play "Agha Mohammad Khan Caligula" and subsequently worked with the "Charsou theater group". After several years as an actor and performer, he transitioned to directing, debuting with "Error 691" at the 23rd Fadjr International Theater Festival (2005).
In 2007, Saeed studied Acting at L'Iris Theater School in Lyon - France, and from 2008 to 2010, he pursued an MFA in Theater Studies at Lumière University-Lyon 2.
Upon his return to Iran, he has directed and performed in numerous theater productions at various festivals and venues in Iran and Europe, including Fadjr International Festival of Tehran, Vartan House, Tehran City Theater, Tehran Independent Theater Hall, Festival Les Turbulents in Villeurbanne - France, ITself International Theater Festival of Warsaw, and Venice Open Stage.
Saeed has received several awards for his work, including the Best Concept Award at the 36th Fadjr International Theater Festival for "Sunrise: 7:14 am", a site-specific performance presented in a moving bus on the Suleqan-Tehran road. He also won Best Director and Best Set Design awards at the 35th Fadjr International Theater Festival for the multidisciplinary performance "Turn back, look at me".
In addition to his career in performing arts, Saeed Behnam has taught studio and seminar courses at several academic institutions, including Tehran University of Art, Soore Art University and University of Tehran- Faculty of Fine Arts. He has also led workshops at Bamdad International House, Tehran Independent Theater Hall, and Barg Institute of Culture and Art. Currently, he teaches Performance Studies, Acting, and Directing at Soore University and Samandarian Academy.
